On 04.10.2022 the event Landesliteraturtage took place in Wittenberg. Yasmin Merey, the founder of Women For Common Spaces and participants in former writing workshops in the Female Voices In Exile series were part of this event. They read their texts from the booklets that are published after each workshop. The texts were then read aloud in their translated form in German.
Comments from two participants at the event:
“You could feel the warmth in the atmosphere of the event. It is important that our texts are read out at such cultural events so that the range of texts becomes wider and wider”.
Nibal Allo, former participant at WFCS.
“The reading exceeded my expectations. It was an evening of exchange and encounter that still lingers. A thousand thanks to the women for their courage and openness in sharing their experiences with us (…) And a big thank you to Yasmin Merei for her work and for publishing the magazine. Thanks to the magazine, the experiences will remain here in Wittenberg permanently and will not be forgotten.”
Friederike Brundiers organized the reading as part of the Saxony-Anhalt State Literature Days. She has a small bookshop in Lutherstadt Wittenberg and is involved in the areas of feminism, anti-racism and democracy education.
